Like most professionals in a sales industry, customer service is always in the forefront of your mind. Keeping your client happily moving toward a completed transaction is the ultimate goal. You jump to the phone when they call and always put your best food forward. But, do you show your colleagues the same professionalism and support? For your business to reach its best potential you need to not only be a great sales person, but a great colleague as well. Here’s some tips:
HELPFUL– Instead of being critical, be helpful. Not all of us have the same level of education or experience. The more we help each other, the more we can all succeed. That being said, please be responsible for your own professional development!
COLLABORATIVE– Look for opportunities to work together. We are not competitors, we are colleagues. With our combined knowledge and creativity, we should be able to conquer almost any challenge
INFORMATIVE– Thoroughly explain paperwork to your client, and consistently discuss the progress of the transaction with them. You owe it to your client and your colleagues to ensure that your client is informed.
RESPONSIVE– Because of the time-sensitive nature of real estate, answering inquiries, emails, calls, and texts in a timely manner is crucial. If you are unable to respond to colleagues and clients in a reasonable time, hire an assistant who can.
PROFESSIONAL– that your level of professionalism reflects on your colleagues as well as yourself. Using professional writing, behavior, property photographs, and attire will help us all capitalize on real estate agents’ collective good reputation.
ETHICAL– If you are a sworn Realtor®, part of the pledge that you took includes Duties to Realtors®. These guidelines for behavior are a good start; not only do they surpass legal standards, they are based on the Golden Rule. Review Duties to Realtors® here.
