Las Vegas- The Gateway to Great Recreation
Whether you have lived in Las Vegas for 20 years or are just visiting for a holiday, you may not realize the outdoor recreational options in our area. In fact, Las Vegas is the gateway to 7.2 million acres of public lands that are beautiful and ready to be explored!
This recreation is central to our Nevada economy as well. The Outside Las Vegas website discusses an Outdoor Industry Association report in 2013 which states that outdoor recreation in Nevada produced billions of dollars in revenue annually, and is responsible for almost 150,000 jobs as well as local tax revenues.
So, there’s plenty to do- get out there are get active!

This is a really cool (44 page) pamphlet by the National Park Service that has information, maps, pre-planned driving routes, and regional BLM info for the Las Vegas gateway areas. This is a great resource if you really want to dig in, and explore some options for recreation outside of, but accessible from, Las Vegas.
