The listing agent that you chose to sell your home will do more than just put a sign in your front yard. Your hired listing agent will help you; property price your home, suggest improvements to help with your sale, market your home, and take you through all of the contract phases. Here are some suggestions for selecting a listing agent who will be right for you.

Selecting a Listing Agent Who is Right for You

Personality Fit- Get a few recommendations from family and friends and interview two or three agents. Look for the agent who best matches your idea Selecting a listing agent, real estate, listing, selling, seller, agent, realtor, real estate agent, Shawn M. Trust is crucial so you should feel comfortable talking to your agent about any questions and concerns.

Marketing- The agents who you interview should be prepared to share their marketing plan. The marketing plan should include both print and online components designed to quickly promote and sell your home. A good deal of real estate marketing is happening online, so you will want an agent who is at least semi tech-savvy. The marketing materials should excite you, and the agent should be able to explain to you the success of past marketing campaigns.

Time in the Industry- Although newer agents are still be learning the industry, they are likely to have the support of a team or broker to help them with your listing. More seasoned agents may have industry experience, but may not be as comfortable keeping up with quickly changing technology. Ultimately, you will want to find an agent who can explain their successes, and who has a solid resource system if something challenging arises.

Appropriate Pricing- The agreed upon listing price of your home should result from a conversation between you and the agent. The agent should be able to provide you with a CMA (Comparative Market Analysis) to explain to you the suggested listing price of the home. Be wary of agents who suggest a beautifully lofty sale price- they might be trying to entice you hire them, knowing that they can ultimately lower the price of your home when there is little market interest.

Commitment to Sell Your Home- A true listing agent will be dedicated to sell your home, not just put a sign in the front yard to attract buyers. Ask the agent how many listings they have taken and closed successfully. Ask them why representing a seller is interesting to them.

Selecting a listing agent who you trust, communicate with, and who can provide you valuable industry experience is the ultimate goal. It will be worth it for you to take your time, interview agents, and trust your gut!
